Would a battery drill make a good, electric drivetrain for a boat?
I am tempted to use a few Cordless Drills to construct an Electric Motor for a small boat and hook them up to a car battery.
Would that work?
Silverstang is clueless regarding amperage. Most drills these days are 18 volt, so you car battery would not be adequate at 12 volts. The motor will only draw the amount of current it requires, no mater how big the battery is. I would think the mechanical coupling of several drills to a propeller and getting the output speed right would also be a challenge that is not worth the effort. Go get a nice trolling motor, they are designed for boating on a standard battery.
