Can I put two different grinding wheels on a 6" Bench Grinder?
I recently purchased a 6" bench grinder for my home. Initially it came with two coarse grinding wheels which work fine, but I want to change one of them.
I want to have a heavy, coarse wheel on the left side and a light, high grit wheel on the right side.
I worry, however, that by making one side heavier than the other that it might make the grinder unstable or cause it to shake. Obviously I'd prefer to go with the safest option.
Is it safe to secure two different grinding wheels on a bench grinder?
It'll be fine.
Usually, people a Grinding Wheel on one side, and a Wire Wheel on the other.
So, putting a different grinding wheel on the other side would be fine.
Note* One side usually has reversed threads on the shaft/nut. So if it doesn't want to loosen, try turning it the other way.
