How much is my gun worth?

I have an 1870 model Winchester 32-20. It has a low serial number, and I've been told that it is one of the first ones made. I know it is a valuable gun, but I haven't been able to find an exact price. Instead of steel, the gun is all brass. Also, the barrel is round and I have been told that most of them were a hex shape. The gun is in Great Condition, and still shoots (I don't shoot it but it would work if I wanted to). All parts are original.

After carefully looking through my Blue Book of gun values, I come to the conclusion that it might be best to contact Winchester about it. I wouldn't go to a dealer or collector as their business is to buy low and sell high.

Winchester will ask you a few things like serial number and markings. I would see about a value for insurance and have it insured. Spend the money to get a factory letter from Winchester, it'll increase the value of the weapon.

Lastly, My information is by no means all inclusive. It sounds to me like a rifle that somebody ordered as a custom job from Winchester. You used to be able to contact most manufacturers and tell them what you wanted and they would build it for you. Most of the time it wouldn't cost any more than a production weapon. Anyhow, I hope this has helped
