no more knob for fridge temp. control?
When I came back to my dorm after break all the fridge knobs had been removed so students could no longer adjust the temp. since they want us all to keep them at a certain setting. However, I like my milk really cold, like ice cold, and right now at this setting it's just cold enough to not spoil... which to me is warm. Yuck!
Anyways, I can remove the little pluggy thing that they replaced the knob with and all I have left is a hole and inside the hole is a rod of metal to which the old knob used to attach to. The rod doesn't extend past the hole so it's hard to turn since it's sort of buried. I tried to turn it with the only thing I had on hand... tweezers which did nothing. I was thinking pliers of some sort but thought I'd consult here first.
Does anyone know of a way I can turn the rod to change my fridge setting? Hopefully you can kind of understand what I mean, I would use technical terms but I'm a lowly Chem major with no knowledge of fridge parts lol.
If you have an assortment of pens or markers handy find one with a pull off cap and push the Open End of the cap over the rod tight enough that it grabs. The rod should have a flat surface ground on one side for the knob to fit over and the cap would grab where the rod transitions from flat to round. If the pen cap has a Pocket Clip you'll have to cut it off. A small diameter ball point pen would probably work too if you screwed the 2 halves apart.
