revlon perfect heat professional 1'' straightener advice??
hi, i really want/need a straightener, and lots of people told me that the revlon perfect heat professional 1'' straightener is really great, so i'm thinking of buying that. but then i saw this page: http://www.folica.com/Revlon_Perfect__r4151_1.html
now i know that i shouldn't believe everything i read online, but half of the customer reviews are terrible while the other half says it's the most amazing thing in the world. I AM SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW...plus my mom doesn't really approve of hair straighteners because it damages hair, so if i buy one and it turns out to be really crappy, i am probably not going to be allowed to get another one...SO PLEASE HELP!! thx~! =)
Forget revlon and go to Sally's Beauty Supply. If your hair is anything other than straight or a little frizzy to begin with, the heat supplied won't do a thing. I had almost that exact straightener, and it took me over an hour to straighten my hair...by straight, I mean slightly wavy.
For curly, thick, wavy, or anything else, you need a straighter that gets to around 400 degrees. A good straightening iron will have settings between 300 and 400-ish for all hair types.
IF IT DOESN'T SAY ON THE PACKAGE HOW HOT IT GETS, DON'T BUY IT!!!! That's the telltale sign of a cheap iron.
Ionic straighteners or ceramic plates are definite plusses. Even though I straighten my hair nearly every other day, my hair is healthy and strong because the ionic component locks in moisture and smooths the cuticle of the hair. I'm talking serious shine here. Plus, you can get a great straightener at Sally's for around 40 bucks. They always have one or two models on sale.
I find that I prefer a model with a curved edge to it, where the plate extends all the way to the edge of the straightener. That way, I can curve the ends of my hair to get a natural look, not the "I straightened my hair by myself" look.
