A cordless drill...is a drill that has not cord, usually not much torque;
By impact driver do you mean Hammer Drill, if so while the chuck is spinning there is a quick hammer effect (this is typically used for drilling into concrete using a masonary bit and it is not recommended using this setting on wood)
An 'impact driver' is a low speed High Torque tool that is used to driver/remover larger nuts and bolts...if you've ever seen them change the tire on your car at a service station, an impact driver is what they typically use to remove/install the nuts on your wheels.
