I have a New Dell Inspiron 1545. wit DOS when I am trying to install windows XP it is givig a blue screen help?
m trying to install windows XP it is givig a blue screen stating something wrong with the video card or the drive etc..at last of there is sentence which starts with pci.sys and lot of hex digits ..have u seen this bvefore can u help me out..
You will need to go to your bios screen ("F2" on startup) and change the SATA setting to ATA. Start your installation and all should be fine.
Side note - I've had the exact same issue and now, with XP Pro installed, the bluetooth and wireless doesn't work. The drivers from Dell wouldn't even work. So, you may want to get a usb wifi adapter, as I have, and don't look back.
Everything is working great minus the bluetooth and wireless. If you go back to vista, you'll gain back that functionality but is it worth it to you?
