Do some amp meters require a shunt?
Do some amp meters need shunts before they'll work? I picked up a used 0-50 amp meter on e-bay and hooked it up to a hho cell I'm working on and it doesn't work at all. I've heard about using shunts, but don't know if some meters need them before they'll work at all. Thanks!
If you bought it as a 50A meter, it probably is, shunted or not.
"Doesn't work at all" suggests you are trying to do something with it that it won't handle.
By HHO I think you would mean these scam "run your car on water" things.
1. They ARE a scam.
2. I don't know where you would find a current about these things anything like 50 A?
3. I don't know how you're connecting it, ammeters go in series.
