a flat, uniform disc has mass M and radius R. a circular hole of radius R/4 centered R/2 from the disc's center is punched into the disc.

a) what is the moment of inertia of the disc with the hole (so the entire disc) about an axis through the ORIGINAL CENTER OF THE DISK AND IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE PLANE OF THE DISC?
(it helps to find the moment of inertia of the piece punched from the disc somehow)

b) what is the moment of inertia of the disk with the hole (so the entire disc) about an axis THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE HOLE AND PERPENDICULAR TO THE PLANE OF THE DISC?
(the parallel-axis theroem is Iparallel = Icenter of mass + Md^2 where I is the moment of inertia. (so Iparallel is the moment of inertia through the parallel axis and Icenter of mass is the moment of inertia through the center of mass))

the answers i got are:
a) (247/512)MR^2
b) (385/512)MR^2

for a)
i got, 247/512 MR^2, so you probably got them right.
M disk = M/16
I hole about the hole's center = (M/16)(R/4)^2/2 = 1/512 MR^2
I hole about the disk's center = 1/512 MR^2 + (M/16)(R/2)^2 = (1/512 + 1/64) MR^2 = 9/512 MR^2
I disk without hole about the disk's center = 1/2 MR^2
I disk with hole about the disk's center = (1/2 - 9/512) MR^2 = 247/512 MR^2
