facing problem in soldering!pls help!!!?
the problem is that,if i apply the solder(lead) on the Soldering Iron,the lead is liquified and it is not easily dropping out of the tip of the soldering iron,instead it gets stuck at the tip of the soldering iron,i have to make it to drop on the soldering junction by myself!i think the coating of the soldering tip has completely disappeared!please help me guys!
You DO NOT apply the solder to the soldering iron! you only need a very little bit to "wet" the tip of the tip of the iron.
You put your two pieces to be soldered next to each other (like a resistor lead in a circuit board hole). You place the tip of the iron against BOTH parts so that they receive heat. After a few seconds the pieces are warm enough to melt solder, and you touch the solder wire to the PARTS, not the tip.
Take to solder wire away, then take the tip of the iron away, and DO NOT move the pieces until the solder cools. You can blow GENTLY on the pieces if you are in a hurry. A good, professionally done solder joint should be shiny, like a mirror. if it looks dull or "sandy" this is a "cold joint" and it needs to be re soldered.
The SIZE or POWER of your soldering iron depends on what you are soldering. Soldering transistor ans ICs and resistor takes a SMALL wattage iron, like 15-20 watts. Soldering two 18-Gage wires together needs a large "gun". If you use an iron that is too big, you will burn, melt, or destroy small parts like transistors and ICs. Use a small "pencil" iron for electronics work, and a larger 'gun" for Heavy Duty wires.
