if my digital camera can see infrared light coming from a remote control, why can't it take infrared pictures?
if you point a remote control at my camera, you can see the infrared lights on it. so if the camera can see this, why can't it take infrared pictures normally, like night vision so to speak. i know you can do things like that by modifying your camera and things like that, but why can't it take infrared pictures normally?
i mean taking pictures of heat signatures without modifying the camera.
There are different kinds of infrared light. The night vision heat signatures is in a slightly different part of the spectrum as the infrared light your camera sees. So you can't do night vision. But since it "sees" the light from your remote, you can take another kind of infrared pictures. You will need to get an infrared filter and a tripod, because it will block out all other light. That will mean a much longer exposure. The results can be pretty cool though. Foliage turns white and skies turn dark.
